Nordic Research in Music Education Yearbook Vol. 18
Nordic Research in Music Education Yearbook is a research-based refereed journal for the Nordic
music education community. The Yearbook is published annually. Manuscripts are accepted in Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, and English. All manuscripts should be accompanied by an abstract in English. The size of research articles is not limited to an exact number of words. However, after peer review, the editors may suggest either reduction or expansion of the text.
The Yearbook also accepts research notes of maximum 4000 words. Research notes may be in the form of comments on earlier Yearbook articles, a short orientation on your own research work, reports on important international events, etc.
In order to be accepted, manuscripts must comply with the following guidelines for authors. Regarding the layout and further examples, please refer to the Yearbook Vol. 17.

Manuscripts for Volume 18 must be sent as email attachment(s) to chief editor Øivind Varkøy at
oivind.varkoy@nmh.no – no later than May 31, 2016.

On account of the blind review procedure, the author’s complete contact information must occur on Page 1 only. The contact information should include title, name, address (institution or private), and email address. This information will not accompany the manuscript when forwarded for review. No reference to the identity of the author should appear in the rest of the manuscript. The manuscript should be anonymized throughout, including replacing authors’ names and other identifiable data regarding the authors in the text and references (use “NN” instead of the author name). No review comments should be left in the submitted file.3. Page 2 should contain an abstract including the main title in English only. The abstract of 150-250 words (max!) should include a short description of the problem, method, and results reported in the article. Use of the first person should be avoided in the abstract. Before submission, a native English speaker with regard to correct use of English must proofread the abstract. In continuation of the abstract, please state three to five (3-5) keywords characterizing the content of the article.

The text should appear in a readable layout with a suitable number of headings. Use a minimum of formatting. Set margins for 3 cm. Use double space throughout the text. Use bold and italics sparingly. Do not use colored text. Please use empty row instead of indentation to mark a paragraph change. Apart from the empty row, do not add any empty space before or after a paragraph.

Notes should be avoided if possible. If necessary, please use endnotes (not footnotes).

Quotations should be put in double quotation marks. Quotations of more than 2-3 lines should be separated from the main text by a new paragraph without quotation marks.

References in the text must appear in the following form: (Jørgensen 1997: 23–27). References should not be given as endnotes.
Reference list entries should be alphabetized by the last name of the first author of each work. More than one reference by the same author(s) should be listed in order by the year of publication, beginning with the earliest. Please refer to the pdf above for the reference list:

Titles of publications appearing in the main text should be in italics (not “…”), including book titles, names of journals, titles of works of music, etc.

The manuscript should be sent as an email attachment in Word (.doc or .docx) format. Figures, tables, music examples, illustrations etc. must be sent as separate attachments in a suitable format, i.e. .pdf, or .png, music examples preferably in .jpg or .tiff. Please mark the preferred location in the manuscript. The editing committee will decide the final insertion. References to figures and tables etc. should be made in the text.
